~ With just one month left until the highly anticipated SailGP Season 4 Grand Final, the excitement is building as the world's best sailors prepare to battle it out on San Francisco Bay. The event, which will take place on July 13-14, marks the final stop on a record-breaking 13-event calendar for the global racing championship.
This will be SailGP's fourth time in San Francisco and the third time the league has chosen the city as its Grand Final host. The stakes are high as athletes from SailGP's 10 national teams compete for the top prize of USD $2 million and a chance to lift the coveted SailGP championship trophy. So far, only three-time champions Australia have achieved this feat.
San Francisco is known for its technical and dynamic racetrack, making it the ultimate test for these elite athletes. Representing their home team, USA, Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, New Zealand, Spain, and Switzerland will all be vying for victory in identical high-tech F50 catamarans that can reach speeds of up to 60 mph (100 kmh).
Before heading to San Francisco for the grand finale, there is one more event left on the calendar - the Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix on June 22-23. With competition at an all-time high and only eight points separating second and fifth place on the Season 4 Leaderboard, there could be some major shake-ups before teams arrive in San Francisco. Will Australia secure their fourth consecutive victory or will New Zealand steal their crown? Could there be a surprise winner in San Francisco?
