SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--On February 22, 2024, The Law Office of Rene Potter filed a civil lawsuit on behalf of Elleanor Tow, a prior Ocean Beach resident, against The Setting Sun Dojo located at 4993 Niagara Ave, #109, San Diego, CA 92107, and its owner Jherie Araos, for sexual harassment, sexual assault and battery, wrongful termination, unfair business practices, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. (Case No. 37-2024-00008204-CU-OE-CTL)

The complaint alleges that Mr. Araos, then in his late 30's, started grooming Plaintiff and her family when Plaintiff was 15 years old, and sexually assaulted her for the first time at a company camping trip when she was 16 years old. The complaint details how Mr. Araos gained access to Plaintiff through her classes at the Setting Sun Dojo and by offering her employment opportunities. The complaint goes on to describe how Mr. Araos sexually and mentally abused Plaintiff for years, isolated her from her family, and fired her when she was 21 years old, instructing her to train a 16-year-old female Setting Sun student to replace her. Finally, the complaint alleges that Mr. Araos continues to have access to underage girls who take classes from him at the Setting Sun Dojo.
