BERKELEY, Calif. - Californer -- A3 Analytics, the AI-native operational intelligence company for automated and self-driving laboratories, today announced that Greg Snyder, PhD, has joined the company as Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer.
Snyder brings 16 years of experience in biotechnology hardware, laboratory automation, field service and customer support. Before joining A3 Analytics, he served as Global Director of Support at PacBio, where he led worldwide support operations for advanced genomic sequencing instruments. He has also held technical and automation roles at Eikon Therapeutics.
At A3, Snyder will lead operations, customer delivery and partnerships with laboratory operators and scientific-instrument manufacturers.
"Greg understands better than almost anyone what it takes to keep advanced laboratory systems running in the real world," said Matthew Gordon, PhD, Co-Founder and CEO of A3 Analytics. "He has spent his career at the intersection of scientific hardware, field service and customer operations. That experience is essential as we build the operational layer that allows self-driving labs to operate reliably at scale."

Gordon and Snyder first met as physics graduate students at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where they worked together in Paul Selvin's laboratory. Their early experience troubleshooting scientific equipment helped shape a shared conviction: laboratory automation creates value only when the underlying systems remain reliable, diagnosable and available.
"Laboratory automation is advancing rapidly, but the operational infrastructure needed to support it has not kept pace," Snyder said. "When one instrument fails, an entire automated workflow can stop. A3 is building the intelligence layer that helps laboratories identify problems, understand root causes and recover quickly."
A3 Analytics' FIXR platform combines equipment logs, service records, technical documentation, images and institutional knowledge to help support teams and laboratory operators diagnose failures. Its AI agents identify likely root causes, recommend corrective actions and preserve what the organization learns from every incident.

The company is also developing A2A-LAB, an agent-to-agent framework that enables laboratory instruments and operational systems to communicate through a common AI-native layer. Together, FIXR and A2A-LAB are designed to help laboratories coordinate heterogeneous equipment, surface emerging problems and continuously improve reliability, repeatability and throughput across automated workflows while keeping scientists and engineers directly in control of critical operating decisions.
Snyder's appointment follows A3 Analytics' collaboration with PacBio to apply AI-driven troubleshooting to complex sequencing systems.
