~ Long Beach, CA - As the holiday season approaches, the City of Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine (PRM) is gearing up to spread some festive cheer with three family-friendly events in December. These events, which are free and open to the public, will take place at various parks across Long Beach and are part of PRM's ongoing efforts to provide safe and engaging programming for the community.
On December 13th, 2025, Silverado Park will be transformed into Santa's Workshop for a day of holiday fun from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event is being held in partnership with Neighbor-to-Neighbor, a program of California Volunteers, Office of the Governor. The aim of Santa's Workshop is to bring the community together and foster connections during this special time of year. Attendees can look forward to a variety of activities such as carnival games, crafts, cookie decorating, family recreation games, educational stations, photos with Santa and more. To make things even more exciting, an Activities Passport will be available for attendees to track their progress throughout the day.

Funded by Neighbor-to-Neighbor California Volunteers and led by the City's Office of Climate Action and Sustainability, this event is just one example of how PRM is working towards building stronger communities through networking and engagement events.
Mayor Rex Richardson expressed his excitement for these upcoming events stating that "the holiday season is a time for celebrating with loved ones and these park events will bring our community together to share in festive traditions." He also emphasized the importance of uniting neighborhoods and strengthening ties through shared experiences.
On December 20th at Lincoln Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., PRM will team up with Long Beach Public Library for Winter Fest. Attendees can enjoy hot chocolate while trying their hand at ice fishing or testing their aim with a snowball toss. There will also be opportunities for arts and crafts, cookie decorating, face painting, and more. The library will also be offering photo opportunities with Santa and a story time session. A raffle will also be held with prizes courtesy of the library. Complimentary parking will be available at the Civic Center Parking Garage.
