Rodeo FX Originals Appoints Yvann Thibaudeau Head of Development & IP

QUEBEC, Quebec - Californer -- Rodeo FX announced today that award-winning editor and storyteller Yvann Thibaudeau has joined Rodeo FX Originals as Head of Development & IP. In the newly announced role, Thibaudeau will lead the studio's development pipeline and help identify the stories, creators, and intellectual properties that can become future Rodeo FX Originals projects.

Rodeo FX Originals is the original content and intellectual property development studio of Rodeo FX Group. Teaming up with well established Mikros Animation and building on the Group's world-class expertise in visual effects, animation, and storytelling, the studio focuses on identifying, developing, and creating original stories and properties for global audiences.

Rodeo FX Originals aims to develop distinctive, premium entertainment by bringing together accomplished storytellers, artists, and emerging creative technologies, taking projects from their earliest ideas through development and toward production.

Working closely with Yvon Jardel and the Rodeo FX Originals creative and production teams, Thibaudeau will help shape promising ideas into compelling, market-ready projects. His responsibilities will span the development process, from early concepts, loglines, and treatments through development packages, creative attachments, and market positioning.

Thibaudeau will source and evaluate original concepts and existing intellectual property while building relationships with writers, directors, creators, agents, publishers, and rights holders. He will also draw upon his extensive international industry experience to evaluate the evolving needs of studios, broadcasters, platforms, and prospective creative and financing partners.

His appointment will be central to Rodeo FX Originals' mission of building a distinctive slate of projects with strong creative potential, international relevance, and the opportunity to become valuable long-term intellectual properties for Rodeo FX Group.

Thibaudeau joins Rodeo FX Originals following an acclaimed 35-year career in post-production. Across approximately 80 feature films, more than 400 hours of television drama, over 2,500 commercials, and nearly 100 trailers and music videos, he has established himself as one of the most accomplished editors in the Canadian film and television industry.

His move into development and production follows the completion of one of the most significant projects of his editing career: Villeneuve, director Yan Lanouette Turgeon's portrait of legendary Formula One driver Gilles Villeneuve. Produced by Christian Larouche and Tim Ringuette, the film was selected to close the Toronto International Film Festival.

"Villeneuve means a great deal to me and stands as one of the biggest challenges of my career to date," said Thibaudeau. "It took us more than two years to achieve the final result—long days and even longer nights—because we understood what was at stake: telling the story of an F1 legend, a national hero, and the idol of an entire generation. I hope the film is well received and paints an authentic portrait of Gilles Villeneuve. I am deeply grateful to Yan Lanouette Turgeon, Christian Larouche, and Tim Ringuette for their trust and for the wonderful film we created together."

With the completion of Villeneuve, Thibaudeau is stepping back from editing to focus on the next phase of his career.

"After 35 years of editing, I feel the time has come to make way for a new generation of editors and take on a new creative challenge," Thibaudeau continued. "Editing has given me an extraordinary understanding of story, character, performance, rhythm, and the deeply collaborative process of filmmaking. Thibaudeau's extensive credits include the internationally acclaimed comedy Starbuck, which received the 2012 Golden Reel Award and the Jutra Golden Ticket Award, as well as Ricardo Trogi's films 1991, 1981, and The Guide to the Perfect Family. He also contributed to the acclaimed biographical drama Louis Cyr, winner of the Jutra Award for Best Film and Téléfilm Canada's Golden Box Office Award.

Throughout his career, Thibaudeau has received four major awards in Québec and earned numerous additional honors, including seven Canadian Screen Award nominations and seven Canadian Cinema Editors Award nominations.
