Councilmember Roberto Uranga reflected on the significance of this milestone year for the Daisy Lane Parade, saying, "As we celebrate its 70th year, we look back on all the memories made and joy that this Long Beach staple has brought us. I am honored to welcome our community once again to create new memories as we travel down Daisy Lane."

The Daisy Lane Parade has a rich history, dating back to 1953 when it was first organized by Gertrude Whittle. Originally working with the Long Beach City Council and Council of Churches, Whittle's efforts to decorate the grass median on Daisy Avenue with a Christmas Village and nativity scene gained participation from nearby residents and continued to grow over the years. Today, the parade is presented by the City and Seventh Council District and overseen by the Wrigley Area Neighborhood Alliance and Maria Norvell, also known as the "Mother of Christmas Tree Lane" for her role in founding the parade and her continued involvement in this holiday celebration.
