He served as Elk Grove's Mayor from 2016 to 2020 and was able to bring crime down to its lowest. Crime in the City of Elk Grove skyrocketed upon his departure. Prior to serving as a proud Mayor in a beautiful city, he also served as District 4's City Councilmember. He was also a School Board Member in the school district his very own children attended and advocated for students in the Elk Grove Unified School District.

He also boosted the economy by creating jobs, constructing civic amenities, and improving infrastructure throughout the district. In addition to his public service, to name a few, Steve serves as Director for multiple local community organizations, including the Asian Pacific School Board Members Association, Sacramento County Sheriffs Community Advisory Board, and the California State Advisory Council on Refugee Assistance and Services.
