How Christy Sepulveda is reshaping the hair experience through her Placer County luxury salon
ROSEVILLE, Calif. - Californer -- The Standard Salon, a luxury hair salon in Roseville, California, has completed renovations at its Placer County location as it marks its third anniversary, according to founder and owner Christy Sepulveda. Known for hand-tied extensions and bespoke lived-in color, the salon also announced plans for a high-end stylist apprenticeship program and a new line of luxury hand-tied hair extensions in 2026.
"We're putting spark into the salon," Sepulveda said. "We started as a second-generation hair salon and transformed it into something that feels like our own."
Renovations include new flooring and décor, reconfigured walls and doorways, expanded back-of-house space, renovated lavatories, custom cabinetry, and architectural details that improve the overall flow of the salon. The Standard Salon also replaced outdated fluorescent fixtures with precision-designed lighting tailored for professional hair services. The updated illumination supports guest comfort while improving color accuracy for dimensional blonding and complex color corrections.

Looking ahead, Sepulveda is developing two initiatives for 2026. The first is a curated hand-tied extensions line designed to meet the salon's standards for look, feel, and longevity. The second is a structured apprenticeship pathway for the Placer County area, designed for individuals seeking an experience-based route into the hair industry. Apprentices will train in supervised, real-world salon work with an emphasis on technical foundations, guest care, and consistent education.
The apprenticeship program will also welcome military veterans. Sepulveda, whose father served as a Navy pilot, said the program reflects her family's military background and her interest in supporting veterans transitioning into new careers.
At The Standard Salon, each service begins with a detailed consultation and hair health planning. Sepulveda describes the salon's approach as integrity-first, pairing elevated color and extension services with bond-building and moisture-rich restorative treatments. The salon incorporates molecular repair options, such as K18 or Olaplex, to support strength and condition during chemical services. Signature services include lived-in color, dimensional blonding, balayage, gray coverage, color correction, and professional hand-tied extension installations, including hand-tied wefts and tape-ins.

Many first-time guests arrive after difficult prior experiences, Sepulveda said, and the team measures success by the confidence clients carry out the door. One longtime client shared, "My highlight came out flawless, and it made me feel like the most confident version of myself."
Sepulveda brings 18 years of experience in professional hair services. She opened The Standard Salon in Roseville in 2023 to build a space that reflects her standards for technique, education, and elevated guest experience.
