Microsoft gives Non-profit Technology Grant to Prairie View A&M University's Alumni Fundraising Group - 1876 Athletic Foundation prior to big Homecoming Game
HOUSTON - Californer -- As Prairie View A&M University prepares for homecoming this Saturday, the 1876 Athletic Foundation announces the receipt of Microsoft's Non-Profit Technology Grant coupling software licensing, product and peer relationships. As a nonprofit organization recognized as a 501(c)(3) status under the United States Internal Revenue Code, the 1876 Athletic Foundation mission benefits many communities inclusive of Prairie View, Texas in support higher education of student athletes, who are preserving the culture at Prairie View A&M University, a Historically Black College and University (HBCU) and the second oldest institution established August 14, 1876.
The 1876 Athletic Foundation looks forward to graduating athletes becoming productive citizens, preserving and/or restoring the environment; promoting human rights; establishing and contributing to a civil society.
The foundation serves as a liaison for the university's athletic department and other sports alumni organizations, focusing on 3 areas: 1. Support of the overall athletic budget, 2. Helping to align Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) agreements, and 3. Establishing and enhancing the fan experience to continue a pipeline of support.

The 1876 Athletic Foundation will be led by Prairie A&M University alumni, Edwin Drayden – President, Roosevelt Huggins – Treasurer, Joseph Clay – Secretary, and an advisory board of business leaders. The group was selected from a group of long-time supporters of the university's athletic department donating more than $300,000 to support athletic and academic scholarships.
About 1876 Athletic Foundation
Our goal is to bridge the financial gap within the athletic budget focusing on scholarships, facilities, and game day experience. We will fund the foundation by elevating donor profiles with significant, sustainable gifts!
We are proud and passionate alumni of Prairie View A&M University and are honored to serve the athletic department and fellows association as their fundraising partner through #SolidarityInPurpose.
