~ SACRAMENTO - In response to the deadly winter storm that has been wreaking havoc in Tennessee, Governor Gavin Newsom has announced the deployment of a highly trained team from California to assist with response and recovery efforts. The team, consisting of 30 members from the federal Complex Incident Management Team (CIMT), will be providing support to the people of Tennessee as they deal with dangerous travel conditions, power outages, and emergencies that have resulted in at least three deaths.
Governor Newsom expressed his gratitude towards the local firefighters who have stepped up to help their fellow Americans during this difficult time. He also emphasized California's commitment to supporting its partners across the country when disaster strikes. The deployment of this Incident Management Team is a testament to this commitment and reflects California's dedication to protecting lives and aiding in recovery efforts during extreme weather events.
The decision to deploy the CIMT comes as the eastern half of the United States experiences heavy snowfall, ice accumulation, and subfreezing temperatures. These conditions have led to hazardous road conditions, stranded motorists, and disruptions to critical infrastructure. In light of these challenges, Governor Newsom's deployment of resources and personnel from California is a much-needed relief for Tennessee.
