~ In a recent ruling, the three-judge panel of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California has rejected the attempt by California Republicans to nullify a congressional map approved by voters last November. This map was created in response to President Trump's alleged rigging of the Texas Congressional Map in favor of Republicans for the upcoming 2026 midterm elections.
Governor Gavin Newsom, who issued a statement in response to this ruling, expressed his satisfaction with the decision. He stated, "Republicans' weak attempt to silence voters has failed. California voters overwhelmingly supported Proposition 50 - to respond to Trump's rigging in Texas - and that is exactly what this court concluded."
Proposition 50, which was approved by Californian voters, aims to counteract any potential gerrymandering efforts by President Trump and his administration. The U.S. Department of Justice also joined California Republicans in their attempt to block this proposition from taking effect.
Attorney General Bonta also commented on the ruling, stating that it upholds the will of the people and marks another failed challenge against Proposition 50. He praised his team for successfully defending this ballot initiative on behalf of Governor Newsom and Secretary of State Weber.

This news comes as Governor Newsom announces funding for a construction workforce training program through his LA Rises initiative, along with support from the Walter Family Foundation and state workforce recovery funding. This program aims to train construction workers and speed up rebuilding and recovery efforts in Los Angeles.
In another announcement, Governor Newsom shared that Highway 1 through Big Sur has reopened months ahead of schedule after being closed due to a landslide. This vital economic corridor will now be restored for communities and businesses thanks to Governor Newsom's efforts.
However, it seems that President Trump is taking notice of Governor Newsom's work as he continues to make similar attempts nationwide. The governor's team has dubbed this behavior as "California Derangement Syndrome" and is not surprised by the president's actions.
It is clear that Governor Newsom's initiatives and efforts are gaining attention and making a positive impact, not just in California but also on a national level. With his continued dedication to serving the people of California, it is no surprise that he has become a target for imitation by President Trump.
