She has established college scholarship programs, funded band uniforms and instruments at underserved schools, and provided long-term support to families impacted by disasters.

She has funded clinics fighting HIV/AIDS, invested in Black communities and businesses, and created the Imagination Library program that provides free books to children from birth to age 5. The proclamation was signed by Governor Newsom on September 25th with the Great Seal of the State of California affixed. It reads: "NOW THEREFORE I, GAVIN NEWSOM, Governor of the State of California, do hereby proclaim September 25, 2026 as 'Dolly Parton Day.'"
In addition to this proclamation, Governor Newsom has also recently signed legislation supporting California Native Americans and cracking down on DUI offenders. These efforts align with his promise to create safer communities in the state.
