In his proclamation, Governor Newsom reflects on the shared bonds of family, friendship, and community that bring people together during Thanksgiving. He also acknowledges those who may be facing hardship and uncertainty during this time and encourages others to show generosity and compassion through service and volunteerism.
The Governor also takes this opportunity to recognize the Native communities who have called California home since time immemorial. He acknowledges their contributions to the state and nation and emphasizes the importance of learning from their example to build a brighter future for all through partnership, respect, and reciprocity.

Governor Newsom's proclamation comes at a time when California is making significant progress in addressing climate change. The state's delegation recently wrapped up a historic participation at COP30 in Brazil where they formed new global partnerships and set clean energy records. This aligns with the Governor's commitment to climate leadership.
In addition to addressing environmental issues, Governor Newsom is also focused on providing affordable housing for California families. During this season of thanks, he announced six new sites across the state that will be transformed into affordable housing for those in need.
As Californians gather with their loved ones this Thanksgiving, Governor Newsom urges everyone to renew their commitment to one another and strive towards living out the ideals of generosity, fellowship, and hope for all humankind.
The proclamation was signed by Governor Newsom on November 19th with Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber attesting it. It serves as a reminder for Californians to come together in gratitude and unity during this holiday season.
