Long Beach ~ Long Beach residents are being reminded to prepare for the upcoming Special Statewide Election, which will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025. The City of Long Beach is advising all registered voters in the area to be aware of this important event following the recent signing of legislation by California Governor Gavin Newsom on Aug. 21, 2025.

The election will give California voters the opportunity to vote on Proposition 50, a constitutional amendment that would temporarily suspend the state's current congressional districts and allow for a new congressional district map for the 2026 through 2030 elections. This decision will have a significant impact on the state's political landscape and is an important issue for all registered voters to consider.

Registered voters in Long Beach and throughout California will receive a Vote by Mail ballot beginning Oct. 6, 2025. This gives voters multiple options for returning their ballot, including mailing it via the U.S. Postal Service or dropping it off at any participating Vote by Mail Ballot Drop Box location. Additionally, voters can also cast their ballot at any Vote Center location in Los Angeles County.
