Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - As Election Day approaches on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025, the City of Long Beach has announced its plans for observing the holiday. In accordance with tradition, the city will observe the first Tuesday in November as a citywide holiday, regardless of any election activity taking place within Long Beach.

To accommodate residents and visitors during this time, certain city facilities and services will adhere to special schedules. The following is a list of what will be open and closed on Election Day:

Open on Tuesday, Nov. 4 during regular business hours:

- All City parks and trails

- City Prosecutor's Office

- El Dorado Regional Park

- El Dorado Nature Center (regularly closed on Mondays)

- Fire Stations and Lifeguard Stations

- Long Beach Airport

- Main Police Station Front Desk

- Marina offices (Alamitos Bay Marina, Shoreline Marina)

- Parks, Recreation and Marine programs and community park facilities

- Gas Services Dispatch (562.570.2140) open 24/7 for emergency calls

- Water/Sewer Dispatch (562.570.2390) open 24/7 for emergency calls

Closed on Tuesday, Nov. 4:

- Billie Jean King Main Library, all branch libraries, including library offices (digital resources available 24/7)

- Towing and Lien Sales

City Hall offices and public services will also be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 4, including commercial services typically available at City Hall, such as the Permit Center, Cashiering/Payment Processing, Utility Customer Service, Billing and Collections, and Parking Citations. However, the public is encouraged to utilize the convenient online resources available on the City website for building permit services and bill payment options.

In addition, there will be no scheduled street sweeping or enforcement of street sweeping violations on Election Day. Street sweeping will resume its regular schedule on Wednesday, Nov. 5.

Parking violations, including parking meters, will still be enforced on Tuesday, Nov. 4 unless the meter states "Exempt on Holidays." The days and hours of enforcement are displayed inside the meters.

Refuse and recycling collection will continue as scheduled on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

The Towing Operations and Vehicle Storage Facility (3111 E. Willow St., between Temple Avenue and Redondo Avenue) will be closed on Election Day. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and closed on Sundays and holidays. However, vehicles and property can still be released outside of these hours for an additional fee.

All Long Beach Public Library locations and services will also be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 4. However, library patrons are encouraged to take advantage of the Library's vast collection of digital resources available 24/7.
