Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - As Memorial Day approaches on Monday, May 27, 2024, the City of Long Beach has announced its schedule for city facilities and services. In observance of this national holiday, some facilities will be closed while others will remain open.
For those looking to enjoy the outdoors on Memorial Day, all city parks and trails (excluding El Dorado Nature Center) will be open. El Dorado Regional Park, fire stations and lifeguard stations will also remain open for public use. Additionally, Long Beach Airport and the main police station front desk will be open for business.
Marina offices at Alamitos Bay Marina and Shoreline Marina will also be open for any boating needs. In case of emergencies, Gas Services Dispatch (562.570.2140) and Water/Sewer Dispatch (562.570.2390) will both be available 24/7.
However, there are some closures to note on Memorial Day. The Billie Jean King Main Library and all branch libraries, including library offices, will be closed. However, digital resources are available 24/7 for those who wish to access them.
Other closures include the BizCare Hotline (562.570.4BIZ), Building and Safety services (including the Permit Center), City Hall offices, City-operated pools, City Prosecutor's Office, Code Enforcement services, Energy Resources offices, Fire Headquarters and Support Services.

The Health Department and Health facilities will also be closed on Memorial Day along with Homeless Services Outreach Line (562.570.4672), Housing Authority offices and LB Resource Hotline (562.570.4246).
Long Beach Animal Care Services and spcaLA will also be closed as they are regularly closed on Mondays.
For those in need of assistance or information regarding public health issues or resources in Long Beach can call the Public Health Information Line at 562-570-7907.
In addition, there will be no street sweeping or enforcement of street sweeping violations on Memorial Day. However, parking enforcement will still be in effect unless the meter states "Exempt on Holidays."
Refuse and recycling services will continue as scheduled on Memorial Day. However, the Towing Operations and Vehicle Storage Facility (3111 E. Willow St.) will be closed. Normal business hours for the facility are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
For those looking to visit a library on Memorial Day, all Long Beach Public Library locations and services, including the main phone line, will be closed on Saturday, May 25 and Monday, May 27.
The City of Long Beach encourages residents to take advantage of their online resources for building permit services and bill payment options during this holiday closure.
