Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach City Health Officer Dr. Cliff Okada has issued a rain advisory for recreational beaches and bays in the City of Long Beach, urging residents to avoid swimming in these areas for the next three days. This advisory comes after the city experienced heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours.
According to Dr. Okada, the increased runoff from storm drain outlets and rivers due to the rain can lead to unhealthy conditions at the city's beaches. As per state law, it is mandatory for all local public health agencies with recreational swimming areas to inform the public about potential health risks.

Media inquiries can be directed to the Health Department's Public Affairs Office at HE-PublicAffairs@longbeach.gov. The department urges all residents to prioritize their safety and follow this advisory until further notice.
