LOS ANGELES, July 22, 2024 ~ CMC Pictures, a leading film distribution company, has recently announced their acquisition of the international distribution rights for the highly anticipated Chinese comedy film "Successor." Starring popular actors Shen Teng and Ma Li, the film is expected to be a blockbuster hit this summer. It is set to be released worldwide on August 1 in countries such as the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. More regions will be announced soon.
This collaboration between CMC Pictures and Slinky Town Pictures marks another successful partnership between Shen Teng, Ma Li, and directors Yan Fei and Peng Da-Mo. "Successor" follows the story of a wealthy couple, Ma Chenggang (played by Shen Teng) and Chunlan (played by Ma Li), who decide to give their son a taste of poverty in order to teach him valuable life lessons. The family embarks on a comical journey as they live in a rundown yard and work as donkey drivers. Their son Ma Jiye (played by Xiao Bochen) becomes their only hope as he excels academically despite their difficult circumstances. However, as he grows older, he starts to notice strange behavior from those around him.
