LONG BEACH, Calif. - Californer -- The Garcia & Artigliere legal team is representing the family of a senior citizen who died as a result of abuse and neglect by the staff of Pomona Healthcare & Wellness Center, LLC.

The victim was admitted to the facility after a long-term hospital stay. He required specialized care that his family could not provide, and was moved into the care center based on that need.

Approximately a year into his stay at Pomona Healthcare & Wellness Center, the patients suffered from a major stroke and was rendered immobile, unable to speak, and completely reliant on the assistance of the facility's staff. His state left him especially vulnerable to bed sores, however, the ailment could have been avoided with proper care.

Due to the neglect of Pomona Healthcare & Wellness Center staff, the patient developed severe bed sores. Facility caregivers hid the victim's condition from his family, who was not notified of the sores until they developed into Stage III severity. At this time, the patient was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital for respiratory issues. The hospital staff transferred him to their intensive care unit to treat the severe bed sores, but to no avail — the patient died as a result of his injuries.
