Living Waters Inc, a faith-based non-profit, will host the summit on Friday, September 23rd. The event will focus on "Bridging the Health Equity Gap for Children and Families to Heal from Grief and Loss".
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Californer -- From death to job loss all the way to social injustice and the lingering effects of COVID-19–more and more families seem to be trapped in an endless cycle of tragic and traumatic events. According to statistics from Mental Health America, nearly 50 million Americans are experiencing a mental illness. Meantime, North Carolina ranks 12th in the U.S. for states with mental health struggles. The numbers are sobering in communities of color where mental health often comes with a stigma, forcing families to silently suffer from grief and loss.
The 2022 Mental Health Summit aims to advocate for awareness, facilitate critical conversations and promote partnerships. Its end goal is to address the health inequities and disparities that keep children and their families from the help they need to heal. This year's summit, which is in partnership with Healthy Blue, Mecklenburg County Public Health Department and ReCAST Mecklenburg will:
