Producer, speaker, and author, Betty Jewell Slater, announces she will enhance her portrayal of Mrs. Rosa Parks, in order to provide a peek inside Parks' more rebellious side. This, as the US celebrates women's voting rights, and Rosa Parks Day.
SAN FRANCISCO - Californer -- Mrs. Parks and other women of color were not included in the initial legislation providing voting rights to women. She worked to gain civil rights and voting rights for black Americans.
Hailed the Mother of the Civil Rights Movement, Mrs. Parks would have celebrated her 107th birthday on February 4, 2020. This day is also Rosa Parks Day in some states. Rosa Parks Day promotes equal opportunities, civil rights, and fairness across U.S.communities.
Celebrations include contributions Mrs. Parks made as a member of the Montgomery, Alabama Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). She worked with the youth division of the NAACP, teaching them to resist the status quo while maintaining their safety if possible.
