The U.S. insurance-shopping company built CATE to bring more structure and control to what happens after a shopper asks for insurance help.
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - Californer -- NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - Ensurance Incorporated, a U.S. insurance-shopping company focused on creating a clearer, more protected way for people to ask for insurance help and get more choices, is publicly introducing CATE, its Controlled Access Trust Engine.
CATE is technology Ensurance built to organize insurance requests and control how they move through the Ensurance process toward eligible licensed insurance professionals.
When someone asks Ensurance for insurance help, CATE allows that request to move through a structured process. Eligibility can be considered, a licensed insurance professional may review limited information, and the professional can accept or pass before additional access becomes available through the applicable workflow.
"I spent years on the agency side, so I understand how important new business is to an insurance professional," said Ethel Rio Cohen, Founder and CEO of Ensurance Incorporated. "Building Ensurance made me look just as closely at what that same transaction feels like to the shopper. I do not think people should have to choose between getting more insurance options and having more control over what happens after they ask for help. CATE grew out of trying to build a better process for both sides."

CATE was initially built around insurance requests originating through Ensurance. As the company continues developing the system, Ensurance is also examining whether the principles behind controlled request infrastructure could eventually apply to shopper-authorized insurance requests that begin elsewhere.
A bank, lender, automotive company, financial business or consumer platform may have a customer who needs insurance, while an agency, brokerage, carrier or other licensed organization may have the expertise to help. Ensurance believes controlled request infrastructure may eventually help govern how an authorized insurance request moves between existing systems while maintaining clear rules around access.
"AI can make a process happen faster, but we still have to decide what the process should be," Cohen said. "Who should see a request? What should they see? When should more information become available? Those decisions matter as insurance becomes more digital."
