Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - The City of Long Beach Economic Development Department (Department) joined forces with California State University, Long Beach, Long Beach City College and Long Beach Unified School District to host the first ever Space Beach Workforce, Education and Training Symposium (Symposium) on Friday, April 4, 2025. The event aimed to further advance workforce development efforts in the city's rapidly growing space and aerospace industry.

Mayor Rex Richardson expressed his excitement for the Symposium, stating that it brought together leaders in education and industry to discuss strategies for preparing the next generation of aerospace workers. He emphasized the importance of aligning local talent with the needs of Space Beach in order to create promising opportunities for youth and adults while securing long-term economic growth for the city.

Organized by the Department's Workforce Development Bureau, the Symposium brought together local space and aerospace companies, education partners, and workforce leaders. The event focused on exploring ways to strengthen talent pipelines and create career pathways for both youth and adults in Long Beach. It also highlighted the progress of Space Beach and the city's vision for continued industry growth.
