Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - After a temporary pause in August 2025 for building renovations, the Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine (PRM) Older Adult Program has returned to the Expo Arts Center. The program, which offers enriching activities for adults ages 50 years and older, will now be available Tuesdays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Older Adult Program at Expo Arts Center aims to enhance the mental, physical, and social well-being of older adults by providing a safe and inclusive environment where they can thrive and foster meaningful connections. This free program is offered at six senior centers citywide and includes a wide range of activities such as arts and cultural experiences, dance, fitness, learning opportunities, health services, excursions, volunteerism, and special interest groups.

Each location offers a unique set of activities and programming. At the Expo Arts Center location specifically, participants can look forward to monthly events such as Book Club, Social Time Games and Cards, Freestyle Art and Coloring, Soul Tai Chi, Yoga, Reflections Class, Birthday Bingo, Aerobics, Line Dancing, Acrylic Painting, Arts and Crafts Class and Arts Workshops. Additionally, most days will also include a free lunch for participants.

The Older Adult Program is also offered at five other locations: California Recreation Center at McBride Park (1550 Martin Luther King Jr Ave.), El Dorado Park West (2800 N. Studebaker Rd.), Houghton Park (6301 Myrtle Ave.), Long Beach Senior Center (1150 E. 4th St.), and Silverado Park (1545 W. 31stSt.). Each location has its own schedule of activities.

The recent renovations at the Expo Arts Center included new LED lighting, rooftop solar panels and new carpeting. During this time period when the center was closed for renovations, participants were referred to the other five program sites.

PRM is inviting adults ages 50 years and up to take part in the various activities and programs offered citywide.
