Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - On Saturday, August 16, 2025, the City of Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine's Homeland Cultural Center will be hosting DanceFest at Cesar E. Chavez Park Amphitheater. The event will run from 5 to 7 p.m. and will feature a variety of cultural performances from community groups.
According to Mayor Rex Richardson, DanceFest is a celebration of the diverse cultural traditions within the Long Beach community. "Art, music and dance are part of the cultural heartbeat of Long Beach," said Mayor Richardson. "We encourage residents to join us as we celebrate these talented performers."
Attendees can expect to see a range of performances from Popping & Locking to Aztec dance. Other acts include drumming, poetry, Khmer martial arts and dance, West African dance, Hmong arts and Micronesian arts. The event is free for all ages and concert goers are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and picnic dinners to enjoy while they watch.

The Homeland Cultural Center is known for its variety of classes that allow people of all ages to explore and pass on traditional and contemporary cultural traditions. These classes include dance, music, art and movies. The center also hosts poetry readings, theatre presentations, performances of dance and music, and cultural celebrations throughout the year.
DanceFest is just one of many free family-friendly activities offered by the City during the summer months. This event aligns with the City's Summer of Opportunity initiative which focuses on fostering positive development among Long Beach youth while addressing youth violence.
