Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach Public Library is proud to announce the launch of their latest community-based sewing lab series, Hilos de Sueños y Recuerdos: Sew it Goes. This series invites participants to attend open lab events throughout October and November, where they can work on their own personal sewing projects while also contributing to a collaborative community quilt.
The quilt will feature photos, prints, and shared memories that have been transferred onto fabric. The final quilt will be revealed on Saturday, November 23rd and will rotate display at all 12 Library branches.
Mayor Rex Richardson expressed his excitement for the project, stating that it beautifully embodies the spirit of Long Beach - a city known for its rich culture, strong sense of community, and collaborative efforts. He believes that by stitching together their stories, residents not only preserve their history but also celebrate the diversity and unity that make Long Beach a remarkable place to live.
