SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - Californer -- SANTA CRUZ, CA — Nemilia today released Nemilia AI Workspace v2.1, a browser-native AI operating system that ships as a single 730 KB HTML file with no backend, no install, and no server. Open it in a browser and get a full production AI environment: multi-agent workflows, document RAG, vision model ingestion, and offline local models — entirely client-side.
Nemilia (neh-MEE-lee-ah) is drawn from the Nahuatl verb meaning to think, to remember, to imagine.
"Most AI tools assume you want to give your data to someone else's server," said Luis Lopez, the Santa Cruz developer who built Nemilia. "This has no backend to breach, no cloud to depend on, and no lock-in. It's a file."
What's New in v2.1
Nemilia supports every major cloud provider — OpenAI, Anthropic, Groq, Gemini, and others — and auto-detects local servers like Ollama and LM Studio at zero configuration. For air-gapped environments, models run on the GPU in-browser via WebLLM. API keys are encrypted with AES-256-GCM. No Nemilia server. No telemetry.

What's New in v2.1
- Custom agents and workflows — build agents with any role, system prompt, model, and temperature, then wire them into multi-step pipelines with drag-and-drop. Seven specialist agents ship out of the box; unlimited custom agents for any domain.
- Chrome extension capture pipeline — right-click any page, image, or screenshot to send it directly to Nemilia's Captures inbox with auto-tagging, offline queue, and automatic vector embedding on arrival.
- Vision model ingestion — images are automatically routed to a vision model, analyzed, and indexed as searchable RAG-ready documents. Drop a screenshot; it becomes a retrievable asset with zero manual processing.
- Per-agent web search — every agent in a pipeline can search the web independently, not just the dedicated research agent.
