New campaign responds to Fidelity Charitable, Vanguard Charitable, DAFgiving360, and Goldman Sachs Philanthropy Fund freezing Southern Poverty Law Center grants following federal indictment
PALO ALTO, Calif. - Californer -- mBOLDen Change, a San Francisco Bay Area nonprofit working toward systemic economic equity, today announced the launch of Move My DAF, a free resource that helps donors with donor-advised funds identify values-aligned DAF sponsors and transfer their accounts. The campaign is hosted on mBOLDen Action, mBOLDen Change's digital public education platform.
Move My DAF launches in response to the automatic freezing of Southern Poverty Law Center grants by four of the country's largest donor-advised fund sponsors following the DOJ's April 2026 federal indictment of the SPLC, widely condemned by former federal prosecutors and legal scholars as politically motivated and unlikely to survive a courtroom. Fidelity Charitable, Vanguard Charitable, DAFgiving360 (formerly Schwab Charitable), and Goldman Sachs Philanthropy Fund suspended SPLC grants under charge-triggered policies requiring no finding of wrongdoing. The San Francisco Foundation, AUM+ (Assets Under Movement), Daffy, Merrill Lynch, Tides Foundation, and ImpactAssets continued allowing grants to the SPLC, citing its standing as an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit in good standing.

"When giving platforms impose financial penalties on civil rights organizations before any court has weighed the facts — policing charitable intent rather than protecting it — donors have every right to respond in kind, in the only language these institutions understand." — Minh Ngo, Executive Director & Board Chair, mBOLDen Change
