Nicky Dare, an Indonesian-American of Dutch descent, returns to VAPI 2025 in Los Angeles representing Indonesia with Pencak Silat and Balinese & Javanese cultural showcases in partnership with the Indonesian Consulate.
LOS ANGELES - Californer -- Indonesian cultural ambassador and Southern California community leader Nicky Dare returned to the stage at the 4th Annual VAPI – Valley Asian and Pacific Islanders Cultural Festival at Pierce College, Woodland Hills. Representing Indonesia, Dare showcased a powerful lineup of live performances including Pencak Silat martial arts, along with Balinese and Javanese cultural dances, in partnership with the Indonesian Consulate of Los Angeles.
"This event isn't just a festival—it's a cultural mirror," said Dare. "I was raised in Texas in the 1970s, but my Indonesian roots never left me. Today, I stand in California honoring both."
A long-time advocate for cross-cultural unity, Nicky Dare has spent over three decades building connections across communities through leadership, education, and preparedness. Her participation in VAPI 2025 reaffirms her ongoing commitment to preserving heritage while inspiring new generations to lead with awareness and pride.

The Valley Asian & Pacific Islanders Cultural Festival hosted over 50 cultural experiences, featuring authentic food, music, martial arts, family activities, and art installations. It remains one of Los Angeles' most inclusive multicultural events—organized by the West Valley-Warner Center Chamber of Commerce and Pierce College.
