Background: In celebration of the holiday season, the San José Animal Care Center (ACS) is launching the #HelpfortheHolidays Campaign.

All donations are welcomed with the Campaign encouraging $25, $50, $75, $100, $125, $250, $500, $1,000, $2,500, and $5,000. When an animal arrives at ACS, your donation of just $25 will provide a case of food for shelter kittens, or a new leash and collar for a dog. The larger donations support the Guardian Angel Program which helps provide medical care and essential programs and services that make a difference in the lives of over 15,000 shelter pets each year. Monetary donations are accepted online or in-person via check or credit card at the ACS. Every donor will have an ornament hung in their honor at the shelter's Giving Tree.

More on The Californer
#HomefortheHolidays is an exciting multi-part campaign. You can also help by:
  • Fostering: You can foster and allow a pet to decompress while they prepare for their forever home; or
  • Volunteering: Join our wonderful team. From volunteering to socialize kittens to walking dogs or helping in the rabbit room, all the animals benefit from spending time with a person.
For those ready to adopt, fees are waived until the end of the year on:
  • All cats over one year old;
  • Dogs over 30 lbs.; and
  • Kittens are adopt one, get one free.

Note: Finding shelter pets a forever home is a top priority for ACS. We also want to remind the community that pets are presents that come with a 15+ year commitment. ACS encourages responsible adoption year-round.
