"B.R.A.N.D. Before your Resume" written by Award-winning Author, Air Force Veteran, Entrepreneur Graciela Tiscareño-Sato, is first Personal Branding and Marketing Book BY a Veteran FOR the Military Community and Veterans in Sudden Covid-19 Career Transition
SAN FRANCISCO - Californer -- Eight years ago, Graciela Tiscareño-Sato began facilitating AUTHENTIC Personal Branding for Military Veterans workshops in a classroom at Baltimore's Towson University.
Dali Rivera, an Army veteran and Towson student, had arranged for the former military officer turned marketing professional and social entrepreneur to teach the art of Personal Branding to a cohort of student veterans. That sparked Tiscareño-Sato's ongoing journey to teach thousands of students at universities coast-to-coast. CalVet, California's veteran-serving State agency, selected Tiscareño-Sato for an eight-city tour to teach professional development skills at their Women Veterans Employment Seminar series in 2018.
Today, publisher Gracefully Global Group LLC announces the start of preorder sales of B.R.A.N.D. Before your Resume: Your Marketing Guide for Veterans & Military Service Members Entering Civilian Life. This is a much-needed resource to bring the marketing mindset to the military community, whether reentering civilian life the first time or during a career transition forced by the COVID-19 pandemic.
All who preorder at least three copies will be thanked inside the book as Early Supporters. Preorder now at publisher's site HERE.
B.R.A.N.D. Before your Resume will begin shipping ahead of Veterans Day in November.
"I titled this book with B.R.A.N.D. as an acronym because we military folks love acronyms," explained the author. "This is what it means: Military veterans must Become Relevant Authentic Noticeable and Differentiated BEFORE writing resumes that nobody will read. We are professionals with diverse, transferable skills earned during our military service. We must first grab people's attention by intriguing potential employers and network partners with our distinctive value – THAT is personal branding. Then human connections can open new doors to new careers. I've been through the chaotic, confidence-shaking military-to-civilian transition. It's one giant MARKETING exercise. I want our service members to be better equipped to market themselves effectively, confidentially and awesomely."

Unlike other books published to broadly advise transitioning service members, B.R.A.N.D. Before your Resume is tightly focused on helping job seekers adopt a marketing mindset to boldly become known to other people. It also uniquely features many fantastic personal branding examples, crafted by veterans during Tiscareño-Sato's group and individual coaching sessions, to inspire military service members.
Here's two examples of what veterans are saying about the expertise Tiscareño-Sato shares in virtual and live workshops, knowledge found in this new marketing guidebook. Marissa, an Air Force veteran and student at UNC-Chapel Hill, North Carolina, said this in a Recommendation on the author's LinkedIn profile:
"Your training helped me to see the ways in which my military experience can be related to my (completely different) future career. I definitely recommend this experience to other students...especially student veterans. Developing a personal brand is beneficial to anyone at any stage in their life/career, as it highlights the importance of marketing yourself and realizing that marketing does not mean bragging!"
"I recently lost my job and walked into the CalVet seminar with little confidence and feeling defeated," said Denise K., a U.S. Army veteran. "Graciela taught me to accentuate my true authentic self, my personality, my varied skills, how to make myself and my resume memorable, the value of networking and making that personal connection with employers. I walked out of the seminar feeling a lot more confident and will use what I learned to find a fulfilling new position."
Denise secured a new position with a California state agency a few weeks after completing the Personal Branding coaching.
Student veteran Dali Rivera who sparked Tiscareño-Sato's personal branding work is now the creator and founder of the Diversity & Anti-Bullying Academy (DABA) for parents and educators to learn how and what to teach kids about bullying prevention, embracing differences in others, building self-esteem and more. Her upcoming "Bullying Prevention 101" course is here.

Ms. Tiscareño-Sato has won numerous literary awards for three prior publications, including a bilingual children's book series inspired by her decade of military aviation service in the U.S. Air Force. Good Night Captain Mama/Buenas Noches Capitán Mamá and Captain Mama's Surprise / La Sorpresa de Capitán Mamá are the first-ever bilingual children's books about women flying airplanes in our nation's military. The Captain Mama story of teamwork onboard a flying gas station (the Air Force's KC-135R aerial refueling tanker on which the author served) has inspired tens of thousands of children, teachers and parents in our nation's schools and libraries. Tiscareño-Sato and illustrator Linda Lens are currently developing the third book in the Captain Mama series. Tiscareño-Sato continues serving children learning at home during the covid-19 pandemic with her popular Captain Mama Virtual Author Visits.
"I am a storyteller who lives to inspire and to teach our military service members, spouses and veterans HOW to become epic storytellers of their own value," said Tiscareño-Sato. "The B.R.A.N.D. Before your Resume guidebook will help me bring the much-needed marketing mindset to even more of my fellow service members, veterans and their spouses. I want them to attract the people they need to reach to start the next successful chapter of their lives as civilians."
