OAK BROOK, Ill., Jan. 15, 2025 ~ As wildfires continue to ravage the Los Angeles area, causing destruction and devastation, Lions in the region are stepping up to provide aid and support to those affected. With the help of more than $100,000 in grant funding from Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF), these Lions are expanding their efforts to assist their communities in need.
The LCIF Emergency Grant funding was quickly awarded to Lions in the affected areas, who wasted no time in using the funds to meet immediate needs. These include providing emergency food packs, water bottles, power cords, hygiene kits, blankets, face masks, and school supplies for children. In addition, LCIF has approved a $100,000 Major Catastrophe grant to enable Lions in the region to provide longer-term relief as the fires continue to rage on.
Dr. Patti Hill, Chairperson of LCIF, expressed her sympathy for those affected by the disaster and emphasized the commitment of Lions and LCIF to help during this time of extreme need. "It is devastating to watch this disaster continue to unfold," she said. "Since Lions live and work in these communities, we will be there to support victims as long as they need us."

Dr. Hill also highlighted LCIF's commitment to supporting recovery efforts from natural disasters worldwide by providing grant funding when and where it is needed.
