America's SBDC Announces 2025-2026 Board of Directors

WASHINGTON, Sept. 15, 2025 ~ The America's SBDC (Small Business Development Center) has announced its 2025-2026 Board of Directors, consisting of 11 exceptional leaders from various states and regions across the country. This diverse group of individuals brings a wealth of experience and fresh perspectives to the table, which will further strengthen the organization's mission of empowering small businesses in America.

Leading the board as Chair is Byron Hicks, the North Carolina SBTDC Executive State Director and Assistant Vice Chancellor. Hicks expressed his excitement and gratitude for being elected as Chair, stating that he looks forward to working with the new board to move the association forward. He also emphasized the importance of supporting all 63 networks under America's SBDC to deliver high-quality services to small business clients.

Joining Hicks on the board is Vice-Chair Danny Fitzgerald, San Diego & Imperial Regional Director; Treasurer Sonya Smith, New York State Director; Secretary Elizabeth Gray, PhD, New Hampshire State Director; Steve Lawrence, Texas Gulf Coast Network SBDC Executive Director and Associate Dean; Michele Hockersmith, Oklahoma State Director; Marnie Schuschke, North Dakota Associate State Director; Kristin Johnson, Northern California Regional SBDC State Director; Sharon Nichols, Mississippi State Director; J.D. Collins, Michigan State Director; and Charles "Tee" Rowe, America's SBDC President/CEO.

Rowe expressed his confidence in the new board members' strategic insights and their ability to expand the organization's impact. He also highlighted the vital role that SBDCs play in America's economy and how their continuous improvement efforts will benefit small businesses across the country.

The America's SBDC Network is a partnership between private enterprises, government agencies, higher education institutions, and local nonprofit economic development organizations. It is also the Small Business Administration's most extensive partnership program that provides management and technical assistance to help Americans start, run, and grow their businesses.
