Award-winning Nigerian director makes U.S. debut with a Pan-African revenge thriller spotlighting human trafficking awareness.

LOS ANGELES - Californer -- Nigerian filmmaker Asurf Oluseyi makes his highly anticipated U.S. debut with 3 Cold Dishes, a sweeping Pan-African thriller executive-produced by Grammy winner Burna Boy and Mrs. Bose Ogulu (Mama Burna). The film premieres in select U.S. theaters on November 17, 2025, followed by a nationwide streaming release handled by Filmhub, a global sales and distribution company specializing in film, television, and creator-led content, on December 5.

FROM YOUTUBE TO THE WORLD STAGE

A self-taught visionary from Ipaja, Lagos, Asurf Oluseyi learned filmmaking through YouTube tutorials and online training, eventually becoming one of Nigeria's most dynamic contemporary directors. His journey from digital learner to global filmmaker was spotlighted in Google's "Africa Connected" campaign, recognizing his trailblazing use of technology to build a creative career from the African continent.

As founder of Asurf Films Ltd., Oluseyi's debut feature Hakkunde (2017) garnered more than ten international awards, represented Nigeria at FESPACO's 50th Anniversary, and now streams globally on Netflix. His short films Hell or High Water and A Day with Death have also earned multiple international accolades, including Best Short Film at IFAB Berlin and AMVCA.

"We wanted to craft a story that speaks to shared trauma and shared resilience across borders," said Asurf Oluseyi. "Cinema has the power to start the conversations people are afraid to have."

A PAN-AFRICAN THRILLER WITH PURPOSE

3 Cold Dishes follows three women from Nigeria, Côte d'Ivoire and Benin who reunite years after surviving human trafficking to plot a daring revenge mission that forces them to confront the past—and the systems that betrayed them.

Filmed across Nigeria, Benin, Mauritania, and Côte d'Ivoire, the feature was co-written by Tomi Adesina and stars Osas Ighodaro, Wale Ojo, Fat Toure, Maud Guerard, Femi Jacobs, and Bambadjan Bamba.

"This film is more than entertainment; it is a call to action," said Mrs. Bose Ogulu. "By confronting the truth of trafficking, we honor survivors and remind the world that Africa's stories belong to Africa's storytellers."

Beyond the screen, the film partners with the Care in the Chair™ (https://careinthechair.com/) initiative, which mobilizes the beauty industry to act as first responders—training professionals to recognize and report signs of domestic violence and human trafficking through salon-based awareness programs.

GLOBAL MOMENTUM AND RECOGNITION

Following its London world premiere at the O2, 3 Cold Dishes won Best World Film at the 2025 Harlem International Film Festival and earned eight nominations at the Africa Movie Academy Awards, including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Cinematography.
