Young Filmmakers Honored With Custom Bennett Awards at the Student Academy Awards
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Californer -- Bennett Awards proudly announces its collaboration with the distinguished Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in crafting bespoke awards for the prestigious Student Academy Awards (SAA). This collaboration brings to life a vision honoring the next generation of talented filmmakers, offering them a taste of the cinematic accolades they aspire to, before ever stepping onto the Oscar stage.
The Academy approached Bennett Awards with a unique design concept for the SAA ceremony. Our team was thrilled to leverage our craftsmanship and expertise to actualize their creative vision, resulting in a stunning tribute to emerging filmmakers. While the original design presented some challenges, our experienced designers expertly navigated these with precision and creativity. The Academy's initial aspiration of a 2-inch-thick award was slightly refined to a 1.75-inch design, allowing the iconic Oscar figurine cutout to appear flawless, without the distortion of thicker acrylic.

The students' journey to the Oscars begins with this custom award, encapsulating the essence of the Hollywood dream in an elegant piece that is both lightweight and visually striking. The aluminum bases of these awards, engraved with recipients' names and finished in luxurious gold, silver, and bronze powder-coating, offer both a semblance of opulence and practical functionality, providing not only aesthetic pleasure but also easy international transport to London, the host of this year's ceremony.
Celebrating its 52nd year, the Student Academy Awards is a renowned platform for up-and-coming talent from universities worldwide. Students showcase their creations across various categories, including Animation, Documentary, Live Action Narrative, and Alternative/Experimental genres. With a legacy of fostering cinematic luminaries—alumni like Pete Docter, Robert Zemeckis, and Spike Lee—the SAA continues to be a beacon of inspiration and achievement.
Bennett Awards is honored to contribute to recognizing and motivating young filmmakers. Through these exquisite custom awards, we hope to reflect and inspire the artistry and excellence these students strive for in their burgeoning careers. Together with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Bennett Awards is proud to play a role in the ongoing narrative of cinematic history.
