Angélica Dueñas Kicks Off 2026 General Election Campaign for CA's 29th Congressional District

VAN NUYS, Calif. - Californer -- Today, Angélica Dueñas officially started her general election campaign to represent California's 29^th Congressional District (CA-29) in the United States House of Representatives.

Angélica is a progressive Democrat fighting to safeguard the civil rights, dignity, and future of the San Fernando Valley. She stands among a powerful wave of progressives across the country who have advanced to the November 3^rd general election.

Angélica will face incumbent Luz Rivas, who, the Dueñas campaign argues, has repeatedly sided with establishment interests when it mattered most despite her progressive branding. "Working people deserve real representation – not politicians bought by corporate PACs," said Angélica Dueñas.

Last August, as Los Angeles communities faced localized ICE and CBP raids and two CA-29 teenagers were detained, Rivas joined a delegation of House Democrats on a privately funded trip to Israel sponsored by the AIPAC affiliate American Israel Education Foundation, according to multiple published reports.

In stark contrast, the Dueñas campaign highlights Angélica's willingness to fight fiercely in defense of the civil and human liberties of her constituents. While serving on the Sun Valley Neighborhood Council from 2010 to 2019, Angélica used her platform to confront the environmental hazards, infrastructure neglect, and severe air pollution choking Sun Valley and its surrounding high-density neighborhoods. Angélica's grassroots leadership has earned national recognition. In 2016 and 2020, she represented the community on the national stage as an official Bernie Sanders delegate to the Democratic National Convention.

Angélica adds, "I am running because I know what working-class families in this district are up against. I've lived those struggles myself, and I'm tired of watching people who are supposed to represent us choose their donors over their constituents."
