SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 18, 2025 ~ In the fast-paced world of software development, speed and efficiency are key to staying competitive. However, for many developers, the process of Continuous Integration (CI) can be slow, costly, and unpredictable. This is where Blacksmith comes in.
Blacksmith, a company focused on delivering faster and more cost-effective CI solutions, has recently raised $10 million in Series A funding. The round was led by Google Ventures and closed in just 14 days, a testament to the urgency and demand for this solution.
The funding round also saw participation from previous backers and notable angels such as Spencer Kimball, CEO of Cockroach Labs, and David Cramer, Co-founder of Sentry. This rapid raise speaks volumes about the need for a more efficient CI process.
One of the main selling points of Blacksmith is its ability to double CI speed while cutting compute costs by up to 75%. This is achieved through the use of high-performance gaming-grade CPUs that are specifically tuned for speed. Unlike most CI providers who rely on generic cloud hardware like AWS, Blacksmith's approach ensures predictable performance with no queuing and maximized hardware efficiency.

But it's not just about speed and cost savings. Blacksmith also offers teams instant clarity when diagnosing failures through its unified test results view. This allows teams to quickly identify real failures, flaky tests, and infrastructure issues without the need for expensive monitoring suites.
According to Aditya (JP) Jayaprakash, Co-Founder and CEO of Blacksmith, "Most of the time, CI just gets in the way." He explains that their goal is to remove this drag on development processes by providing predictable speed and cost savings while also giving teams more insight into their pipelines. This is especially important for teams using AI codegen tools who need to move quickly.
Since its launch out of Y Combinator's Winter 2024 batch, Blacksmith has steadily grown to $1M in ARR (annual recurring revenue), with revenue tripling in just the past four months. More than 800 companies, including Ashby, Chroma, Clerk, Devsisters, Mintlify, Pylon, Slope, Supabase, and VEED now use Blacksmith for their GitHub Actions.

Kamil Ogórek, API Lead Engineer at Supabase, attests to the effectiveness of Blacksmith's solution. "Blacksmith cut our test times in half without us lifting more than a pull request," he says. "Feels like we're cheating, but we'll take it."
The founders of Blacksmith – Aditya Jayaprakash, Aayush Shah, and Aditya Maru – all met at the University of Waterloo and have experience building large-scale distributed systems at Faire and Cockroach Labs. They understand firsthand the cost and frustration that comes with a slow and opaque CI process.
With the new funding, Blacksmith plans to expand its engineering and go-to-market teams and open offices in San Francisco and New York City. They also have plans to continue building out their observability stack for GitHub Actions with a focus on test analytics and addressing other pain points that developers face when trying to merge their code.
In a world where speed is everything, Blacksmith is providing a much-needed solution for developers who want to stay ahead of the game. With its faster CI process and improved observability features, it's no wonder that more and more companies are turning to Blacksmith for their GitHub Actions.
