STOCKTON, Calif. - Californer -- Twenty-five-year-old student Mariana Castillo takes up with a college professor after he saves her from an attack near her college dorm. The scared woman ends up living with Theodore Marino for the next three years, not knowing that he comes from a crime family of gun-running warlords.

Her problems started when she ignored her family's advice to keep her clairvoyance abilities a secret. Now she vows to never trust anyone again. For six months Mariana hides away from bounty hunters. Then she meets Cassius Russo, an undercover FBI agent who will protect her, but only if she can once more learn to trust. Cassius has been on the Marino case for two years and desperately needs to keep Mariana in the dark about his identity.

Hiding and distrust have become habitual to Mariana. She blames herself for her predicament and vows to protect her family at all costs, even if it means never seeing her son Michael again. And she will die before allowing the Marinos to corrupt her child. Will she let Cassius help her?

About the Author: Margie Vieira lives in the San Joaquin Valley of California with her husband and three daughters. The simple life of farming and living out in the country has given her ample time to write. She also works four hours a day as a bilingual para-professional, working with second and third graders on phonics and literary comprehension.
