At 70 years young, Dr. Kern wanted to box to stay in shape but not able to find a book that explained the fundamentals. He met Coach Dean, "if you teach me how to box I will help you write a boxing book." Boxing is about passion, excitement for life, discipline, determination and heart, courage, integrity, character, humility, confidence and respect. Coach Dean has successfully applied his principles to those afflicted with Parkinson's disease. Taught one on one, he and his team work to restore motion and movement thought forever lost with startling improvements.

The "Buffalo System" was created and developed by Coach Dean producing  24 champions (6 women/18 men) including US National Golden Gloves, Ringside Masters World and Golden Gloves Champions. Certified by USA Boxing and inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2018 by the Buffalo Veteran Boxers Association–Ring 44.

Eugene B. Kern, MD
"Doc" Kern was a major in the US Air Force, trained at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota as a surgeon and Professor of Rhinology and Facial Plastic Surgery for 33 years. Currently teaching Nasal, Sinus and Facial Surgery at University at Buffalo, Dr. Kern is a respected educator, contributed greatly to the understanding of rhinologic diseases and a recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the Mayo Clinic.
