~ Sacramento, California - Governor Gavin Newsom has declared March 17, 2025 through March 23, 2025 as United States Navy Week in California. This proclamation comes as the state celebrates the Navy's 250th anniversary and recognizes the crucial role it plays in national defense.
With Naval Base San Diego as the primary homeport for the Pacific Fleet and over 48,000 active-duty Sailors, 7,000 Navy Reservists, and 64,000 retirees calling California home, the state has a strong connection to the Navy. In fact, California is responsible for $158.7 billion in annual exports that are safeguarded by the U.S. Navy.
Governor Newsom expressed his honor in having Sacramento selected as one of only 15 cities to host a Navy Week. He encourages all Californians to take this week to reflect on the important role that the U.S. Navy plays not only for California but also for global trade and security.

In addition to these appointments, Governor Newsom continues to support rebuilding and recovery efforts in Los Angeles with a $10 million contribution from the state.
