~ SACRAMENTO - In a recent press release, Governor Gavin Newsom announced several appointments to various boards and positions within the state of California.
One of the appointments made was that of Matthew Swain, who will now serve on the Osteopathic Medical Board. Swain brings a wealth of experience to this role, having served as Chief Medical Officer at Mendocino Community Health Centers since 2022. Prior to that, he held positions at South Peninsula Hospital and the Primary Care VA Healthcare System. Swain is also a diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine and a member of the Osteopathic Physicians & Surgeons of California. He holds a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Midwestern University, as well as a Master of Business Administration degree from Western Governors University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies, Chemistry and Military Studies from Northern Arizona University.
Another appointment announced by Governor Newsom was that of Claudia Carroll Hanson to the 17th District Agricultural Association, Nevada County Fair Board of Directors. Hanson brings with her years of experience in planning, having served as Planning Manager for the City of Reno for over 15 years. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in City and Regional Planning from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.

Adrienne Konigar-Macklin has been appointed to the 48th District Agricultural Association, Schools' Agriculture and Nutrition Fair Board of Directors. With an extensive background in education law and administration, Konigar-Macklin has served as General Counsel at the San Diego County Office of Education since 2018 and Managing Partner at the Law Offices of Adrienne Konigar and Associates since 2018. She holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California College of Law, San Francisco and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Ecology from the University of California, Irvine.
Scott Mendenhall has been appointed to the Structural Pest Control Board. Mendenhall brings a strong business background to this role, having served as Vice President of Operations at Planet Orange since 2012. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Saint Mary's College California and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

In other news, Governor Newsom also honored fallen Caltrans worker Alexander Rodish, who tragically passed away while on duty. The Governor issued a statement expressing his condolences and highlighting Rodish's dedication to his work.
Additionally, the state has made significant progress in providing clean drinking water to its residents through the SAFER Program. In just five years, the number of Californians without access to clean drinking water has been reduced by more than half.
Finally, in response to the rapidly burning Hawarden Fire, California has secured a Fire Management Assistance Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide additional resources and support for firefighting efforts.
These recent developments demonstrate Governor Newsom's commitment to addressing important issues and making appointments that will benefit the state and its residents.
