~ Sacramento - As the one-year anniversary of the October 7, 2023 attack by Hamas on Israel approaches, Governor Gavin Newsom has issued a statement in solidarity with the people of Israel and Jewish communities around the world.
In his statement, Governor Newsom expressed his condolences for the lives lost and the families impacted by this tragic event. He also acknowledged the strength and resilience shown by the Jewish community in the face of rising antisemitism.
"The Jewish spirit is one of resilience and commitment to community, especially in times of great trauma," said Governor Newsom. "California stands beside the people of Israel and all those affected by this ongoing conflict."
Governor Newsom also reflected on his visit to Israel following the attacks, where he met with survivors, impacted families, and officials. The State of California has also provided support through shipping medical supplies, including field hospitals, to aid in humanitarian relief efforts in both Israel and Gaza.
