Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - As the nation prepares to celebrate Juneteenth on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, the City of Long Beach has announced its schedule for city facilities and services on this important day.
In observance of this historic day, the following facilities and services will be open on Wednesday, June 19:
- All City parks and trails (excluding El Dorado Nature Center)
- El Dorado Regional Park
- Fire Stations and Lifeguard Stations
- Long Beach Airport
- Main Police Station Front Desk
- Marina offices (Alamitos Bay Marina, Shoreline Marina)
- Gas Services Dispatch (562.570.2140) open 24/7 for emergency calls
- Water/Sewer Dispatch (562.570.2390) open 24/7 for emergency calls
However, the following facilities and services will be closed on Wednesday, June 19:
- Billie Jean King Main Library, all branch libraries, including library offices (digital resources available 24/7)
- BizCare Hotline (562.570.4BIZ)
- Building and Safety services, including the Permit Center, inspections and plan reviews
- City Hall
- City-operated pools
- City Prosecutor's Office
- Code Enforcement services
- El Dorado Nature Center
- Energy Resources offices

City Hall will also be closed on Wednesday, June 19, including commercial services typically available at City Hall such as the Permit Center, Cashiering/Payment Processing, Utility Customer Service, Billing and Collections, and Parking Citations. However, the public is encouraged to utilize the convenient online resources available on the City website for building permit services and bill payment options.
In addition, there will be no scheduled street sweeping or enforcement of street sweeping violations on Wednesday, June 19. Street sweeping will resume its regular schedule on Thursday, June 20.

Parking enforcement will still be in effect for citywide parking violations unless the meter states "Exempt on Holidays." The days and hours of enforcement are displayed inside the meters.
Refuse and recycling services will continue as scheduled on Wednesday, June 19.
The Towing Operations and Vehicle Storage Facility (3111 E. Willow St., between Temple Avenue and Redondo Avenue) will also be closed on Wednesday, June 19. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with Sunday and holidays being closed. However, vehicles and property can still be released outside of these hours for an additional fee.
All Long Beach Public Library locations and services will also be closed on Wednesday, June 19. However, library patrons are encouraged to take advantage of the Library's vast collection of digital resources including the Library catalog, downloads, and databases which are available 24/7.
