Long Beach, CA ~ The City of Long Beach Office of Equity has recently announced the launch of a new Culture and Heritage Calendar Survey, inviting community members to participate in shaping a calendar that celebrates diversity and strengthens community connections. The survey will be available on an ongoing basis, but submissions completed by Friday, April 25 will be considered for the inaugural edition of the Culture and Heritage Calendar, set to launch this spring.

According to Mayor Rex Richardson, the city believes that recognizing and celebrating the diverse traditions and milestones of its community is crucial in fostering understanding and building stronger connections. The survey presents an opportunity for community members to have their voices heard in developing a new Culture and Heritage Calendar that promotes Long Beach's values of respect and inclusion.

The Culture and Heritage Calendar will feature significant cultural and religious observances, diversity-related commemorative months, and important dates that reflect the city's commitment to equity and inclusion. Once completed, it will be available on the Office of Equity's webpage as a resource to raise awareness about the diverse groups, cultures, and causes within Long Beach.

Community members can participate in the survey online or in-person at any Long Beach Public Library location or Parks, Recreation, and Marine community center by filling out a paper copy. To ensure a comprehensive representation of Long Beach's diverse voices and experiences, the survey is open to all community members. Participants are also encouraged to suggest widely recognized cultural or religious observances to be included on the calendar. For those interested in suggesting multiple events or holidays, separate surveys should be submitted for each.

The launch date for the inaugural edition of the Cultural and Heritage Calendar will be announced in the coming weeks. While only submissions received by April 25 will be included in this edition, the survey will remain open for future updates to ensure continued opportunities for community input.
