SAN FRANCISCO - Californer -- Footprint Project, which helps communities build back greener after disasters, has launched a new partnership with SkyView Ventures under which SkyView has donated nine DC solar trailers in California and two DC solar trailers in New Hampshire. They will be used during the upcoming spring storms and power outages.
The portable solar generators can be stored in solar trailers and rapidly distributed to power life-saving communication equipment that meets WiFi, lighting, medical, refrigeration, and water needs. For example, Footprint Project recently provided a solar generator in Fayette County, Texas after the winter storm, bringing clean power to help Texans needing emergency power for vaccination sites and communication needs for emergency first responders.
Last week, Footprint worked with partners from New Sun Road to install communication hardware in the trailers in Point San Pablo Harbor in Richmond, California preparing the equipment for power outage recovery needs. Locations for the trailers are dispersing around the west, and northern areas of the country in order to expand our network and availability during natural disasters.
With this new equipment. Footprint Project will be able to expand its fleet and increase resilient energy and awareness about the need for it. Footprint will increase preparedness for upcoming spring storms and power outages.
"When we learned about the Footprint Project and their ability to bring mobile clean energy to first responders and communities impacted by natural disasters, we knew we found the right company to partner with. The team at SKYCHARGER is delighted to donate 11 solar energy trailers to their cause knowing they will be put to good use," said Jeff Zissulis, CEO of Skycharger, which is operated by Skyview Ventures.
More on The Californer
Skyview Ventures powers independence by investing in renewable energy markets across North America. Investments focus on environmental commodities; solar project finance, development and ownership; electric vehicle infrastructure; and early-stage startups. In addition to managing two other subsidiaries, SkyView Ventures operates SkyChargers, a developer, owner, and operator of EV charging stations.
New Sun Road is a California based public benefit corporation developing data driven loT technology solutions for solar-based power systems that reduce operating costs and increase control and visibility. New Sun Road helped prepare the nine trailers with communication installations for future deployments. Using their experience and expertise, New Sun Road retrofitted them to run on Stellar Microgrid OS (New Sun Road's microgrid fleet control software) and to provide Wifi hotspots during power outages.
Footprint Project would like to extend a special thank you to our dedicated partners for their support of this incredible partnership donation and development. Footprint is able to build back better because of our Hardware Heroes, who provide in-kind equipment donations. Footprint also thanks our installation management partners for making deployments possible.

More on The Californer
Footprint Project assembles, deploys and maintains solar generators to displace fossil fuel generators and support community-led recovery during disaster power outages. We focus on empowering mutual aid networks and locally-based resilience groups by providing them with plug-and-play clean energy systems so they can serve their community. Our Solar Energy Rapid Response Team (SERRT) works to power donation drop sites, emergency command centers, first aid stations, refrigeration and medication storage, and any other electricity-dependent services for Community Resilience Hub Partners (CRHPs). Footprint Project not only reduces fossil fuel use, but also empowers underserved, front-line community groups to kick-start equitable and resilient recovery.
For those interested in helping Footprint Project #BuildBackGreener during these trying times, we are currently seeking:
1. Cash - The most effective, flexible, and sustainable way to support disaster-affected communities. Donations can be made at https://www.footprintproject.org/donate
2. Clean Energy Equipment - Batteries, inverters, solar panels, wiring, in priority order. More information here: https://www.footprintproject.org/donate
