OAKLAND, Calif. - Californer -- With the recent reports regarding racial bias and profiling of customers at the Sephora beauty and cosmetics chain, which resulted in a recent one-hour diversity training throughout the company in early June, hip-hop artist turned health and beauty entrepreneur Suga-T expressed dismay recently over how people of color are treated by such businesses. She encourages clients to seek independent outlets like her company to serve them.
"Customers should go to stores where they are respected and treated like human beings," Suga-T shared. "All businesses should be thankful for those who are spending money for their services. Employees should be trained to be respectful, not stereotypical and hateful. Finding a company with good customer service has sadly become a rarity nowadays."
Recording artist SZA posted via social media her experience being racially profiled at a Sephora outlet. Then, comedienne Leslie Jones also shared that her assistant encountered the same treatment. It was similar incidents which "Suga-T" had experienced as well - "I had some abusive encounters myself as a customer and it could really traumatize a person."

Suga-T started her fragrance production company while being in a domestic violence relationship during the time of re-inventing her brand. This prompted her to launch an online fragrance, beauty and wellness company, the Sprinkle Me Boutique (inspired by the multi-platinum hip-hop hit with her brother E-40).
"We offer many products, from bath, skin care, fragrance and spa, to self-help, economic empowerment and wellness resources," according to Suga-T. "A portion of sales benefits families of children with autism as well as female empowerment. We are hands on, very customer service friendly and welcome all folks to visit our online shop."
Suga-T's life/career lessons have resulted in her new book "YOUR PERFUME", and the companion album, "WORK IT". The book outlines what it took to reinvent her own self to become a successful mother, grandmother and businesswoman against all odds. Her album features songs for many musical tastes from Hip-Hop to Blues and R&B .
