MENIFEE, Calif. - Californer -- What began as hours in a virtual world led to a real-life business for D. Campbell. In 2018, between corporate banking and music gigs, Campbell spent nearly ten hours a day playing GTA V Online. A phrase echoed repeatedly: "Start a business. Start a business. Start a business."

Initially considering a small venture for potential tax benefits, Campbell quickly realized he had the tools to make it work. His background included loan officer experience, a brief advertising stint, website-building for his music band, telemarketing knowledge, and SEO skills to help clients get found online.

In 2019, he approached the City of Menifee with a business proposal—and got approved on the first try. Since then, the business has grown and evolved. Today, Campbell is the Founder of Sun City Marketing, running a small team of freelancers building and hosting WordPress websites on Hostinger servers while providing full-service digital solutions for small businesses.
