Do What You Hate & Your Bliss Will Follow™, Says Author Dr. Gary S. Goodman
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - Californer -- "People have been told to follow their bliss, but this is a bum steer," according to Dr. Gary Goodman, author of 33 books. His newest urges the opposite.
He says, "Do What You Hate & Your Bliss Will Follow," which is the title of his latest audio book published by the motivation masters at Nightingale Conant.
As a society, we've been bingeing on an "Eat Dessert First" philosophy, fed to us by a self-help industry that is really doing the opposite.
"Most authors are selling fluff, hot air, and daydreams instead of leading folks into doing what they need to do to succeed," says Goodman.
Who, exactly, are these culprits?
One of them is philosopher Joseph Campbell, who "launched millions of leaky ships by telling folks to follow their bliss," Goodman asserts. "Instead, they need to get down to doing what matters, which involves self-discipline instead of self-indulgence."

Another folly is the "Power of Intention" crowd, says Goodman. These folks contend that "The Secret is merely imagining success and letting go, and the universe will surely deliver it."
Goodman replies: "A person must wait with an open mouth for a long time before a roast duck will fly in."
He cites the precise time Americans started to be wooed by magical thinking. In part, he says: "The Hippies did us no good," and "Eastern thought didn't build our country."
Unlike many in the personal improvement zone, he offers a specific action plan to cure our "Stinkin' Thinkin'," which happens to be another no-nonsense title in his lineup.
At Audible and Amazon, you can hear a free sample of "Do What You Hate & Your Bliss Will Follow."
