Strength, Legacy & The Power to Lead + Joel Rodriguez Tirado on his mother's belief, financial empowerment, and why support must outlast awareness.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Californer -- Impact & Influence Magazine has released its October 2026 issue, honoring the women who shape our world—through strength, legacy, and the power to lead.
October carries many important messages: women-owned small businesses, breast cancer and mental health awareness, domestic violence prevention, and greater support for safety and education. But beyond every campaign, ribbon, and event are the women themselves—our grandmothers, mothers, sisters, wives, daughters, friends, colleagues, mentors, entrepreneurs, and leaders.
At the heart of this edition lies a powerful contribution from writer Joel Rodriguez Tirado, titled "The Women Who Shape Our World."
Joel Rodriguez Tirado writes about his mother, who exemplified strength through both good times and difficult ones. "She believed in me during moments when I struggled to believe in myself," he writes. "Sometimes the greatest gift someone can give us isn't an answer or a solution; it is simply believing in us long enough for us to start believing in ourselves again."

He reflects on the strong, determined women he has met throughout his journey—building businesses, raising families, overcoming adversity, leading teams, and reinventing themselves. "Strength isn't always loud. Leadership isn't always attached to a title."
Joel Rodriguez Tirado also raises a crucial point about financial empowerment. "If we are serious about strengthening families and empowering future generations of women, financial education has to be part of that mission." He emphasizes teaching daughters, sisters, mothers, and colleagues about retirement, investments, debt management, emergency savings, and legacy.
"Life insurance is about responsibility, preparation, and love," writes Joel Rodriguez Tirado. "Legacy isn't only about how much money we leave behind. Legacy is also about how prepared we leave the people we love."
He calls on readers to do more than recognize women—support them, mentor them, collaborate with them, and learn from them.
