Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach Animal Care Services (LBACS) has recently announced their participation in NBCUniversal Local's 2025 Clear the Shelters national pet adoption and donation campaign. This event, which will run until August 31, 2025, aims to find safe and loving homes for animals in need.

According to Mayor Rex Richardson, this partnership with NBCUniversal is a source of pride for LBACS. He believes that this campaign has made a significant impact in helping over a million animals across the country find forever homes. The mayor encourages the community to get involved and support the wellbeing of local animals by visiting LBACS this month.

To promote responsible and mindful adoption, LBACS is offering special adoption rates throughout the month. Dogs weighing 25 lbs. or more can be adopted for $25, while kittens can be adopted for $9. Interested individuals can visit LBACS at 7700 E. Spring St. on Wednesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. They can also search for adoptable pets by breed, gender, and size on the shelter's website or apply online at www.cleartheshelters.com.

Aside from adoption, there are other ways for residents to get involved in this campaign such as making monetary donations, fostering animals, volunteering at the shelter, donating supplies, and spreading awareness about adoptable animals on social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook.

LBACS' Clear the Shelters event will culminate on the last weekend of August with waived adoption fees from August 29-31. According to Melanie Wagner, Manager of Long Beach Animal Care Services, this event is not just an adoption drive but also a beacon of hope for animals in need during a challenging time for shelters.

This year marks the 11th consecutive year that NBC and Telemundo-owned stations have partnered with affiliate stations, animal shelters, and rescues for Clear the Shelters. Since its inception in 2015, this campaign has successfully helped more than one million pets find new homes.
